Huntington Birthday Commemoration Placed at Chamber

The Oneonta Park Chapter D A R will meet Monday at 160 o'clock at Mrs. C C Browning's home in San Marino. Mrs Harry Lord introduces the afternoon speaker Mrs Holbrook regent of the Horace Greeley chapter Glendale and district chairman of Indian welfare. Miss Margaret Bent will sing Indian songs and Mr Ernest Sutton will show pictures of Indian life. Members should bring donations for Indian relief boxes.

San Gabriel Bond Issue Defeated in Special Election
San Gabriel voters rejected a 345000 bond plan to buy a high school site and build a new building. The tally was 828 yes and 584 no, short of the 945 needed for passage. The School Board will not seek another bond without clear voter backing.

February building permits totalled 58 830 dollars stated Geo H Cronshey building inspector. A residence at 1858 California Street to be erected by H F Lafler costs 16 000 dollars with 12 rooms two stories and three baths. The first permit of the month went to John H Simpson to build an 11 story bungalow at 1815 San Marino Avenue with six rooms and owner as contractor.

Joint Bid Lowers Dam Project Costs for Pasadena
The Pine Canyon dam work and materials were bid at 2 407 311 70 by William C Crowell Bent Brothers and Winston Brothers and found the lowest among seven bids. A Guthrie Co of Portland Oregon submitted the highest bid at 3 368 229 50. City Manager J W Charleville will report the tabulated bids by Thursday with adjournment pending.

DAR Branch Plans Arbor Day Tree Planting Ceremony
In San Marino the Daughters of the American Revolution will mark Washington's bicentennial with a tree planting at the city park on Arbor Day at 2 PM. San Marino Honors Lincoln With Honorary Citizen Letter
San Marino, the tiny republic after which our city is named, received a newspaper via Arturo Balsimelli, secretary of the San Marino Consul General in New York, showing a May 7 1861 Lincoln letter in the president hand thanking the Captain of Directors for making him an honorary citizen.
