A three hour forty five minute Huntington meeting heard Dr James Thorpe, director of the library, stress the need for a new entrance complex and expanded parking. He described the institution as a global center of learning and culture for visitors and scholars.
San Marino High School launches Work Week for Scholarships inviting all students to obtain sponsors and work two hours for a minimum $5 donation per person. March 11 is Work Day with student-operated fundraising, followed by Week activities and tax-deductible contributions to SMHS Scholarship Fund.
Founders Day ceremony at the San Marino Community Church honored eighteen PTA volunteers with the Honorary Service Award as part of the 81st Founders Day celebration. Notable honorees included Mrs Peggy Cla, Mrs Walter Dingus, and Mrs Emily Kooken, with special guests Mrs Albert Sears and PTA First District president Mrs Dennis Stephart.
