Theft Attempt Frustrated by Entire Lauderbaugh Family
The Lauderbaugh family aided San Marino police in catching two Mexican youths who tried to steal jewelry at the Guy Lauderbaugh jewelry store on Huntington Drive. One suspect, Joe Mora of Wilmington, was later captured on Lorraine Road. another, Joe Torres of Los Angeles, denied robbery. A third individual, associated with Mora, was questioned along with local officers.

S. M. Youth Suffers Shock From Car Crash
Richard Mayfield 16 of 305 La Presa drive was the least seriously hurt when three youths were thrown clear as their old model car overturned and struck a tree at Lincoln avenue and Figueroa street AltaDena. Mayfield was treated for shock at Huntington Memorial hospital. Reynold Anderson of Pasadena and Charles Hudson of Altadena were listed in serious condition with arm laceration hip injury and internal injuries respectively. Patrolmen Blakemore and Bergman stated a broken front spring bolt caused loss of control and the car skidded about 50 feet before hitting the tree. Being thrown clear probably saved their lives.

Frank Swinhart, a paroled convict from San Quentin, was captured after entering two San Marino homes on San Marino Avenue and San Gabriel Boulevard.
