The San Marino Chamber of Commerce plans a 75th Jubilee July 4 celebration with a Monterey Road parade at 3:30 p.m. and judging at 4:40, followed by picnicking and entertainment at Lacy Park. Longtime Valentine Teachers Retire After 46 Years Combined
Dorris Mitchell and Martha Peterson retire from Valentine schools after decades in teaching. Mitchell began in 1960 at Stoneman and extended to kindergarten and first grade. Peterson, in third grade at Valentine since 19, started teaching 40 years ago in Illinois before moving to California. The pair, married with families, plan camping hiking gardening and travel in retirement. Petersons head to a Hawaiian vacation this week as a retirement gift, then time with two children and three grandchildren.
