Jim Hayes, found drunk with a child in Windsor road, faced a 25 dollar or five day penalty after admitting a half bottle of 70 percent rubbing alcohol was used to treat the boy's blister. He received a five week installment plan to pay the fine.
A 73 year old veteran Jim Campbell, who served in the Indian wars under Generals Cook and Shafter, fell ill and sought police help. He was put to bed at the station and then taken to the county hospital. County authorities will obtain his discharge for care at the Old Soldier's Home at Sawtelle.
