San Marino seeks protest over 1940 41 assessments
A San Marino taxpayer delegation will meet Friday at 2 PM with County Assessor John R. Quinn and deputy J W Hartman to challenge proposed 1940 41 assessments for the area south of Huntington Drive between Virginia Road and San Marino. They claim a 50 percent plus hike over 1937 values, driven by mis grouping with east San Marino land formerly an orange grove. If unresolved, protests will be filed with the Board of Supervisors. a county wide newspaper drive to aid Red Cross war relief runs June 28 29 and 30.

Erickson Named Principal of South Pasadena-San Marino High
Elmer J. Erickson of 755 Winthrop Road was chosen principal of the South Pasadena San Marino Senior High at a Board of Education meeting last Tuesday. He succeeds the late John E. Alman and has served as acting principal for a month. Erickson has twenty years of educational experience, a Gustavus Adolphus College graduate, a 1928 University of Minnesota master, and recently earned a Doctor of Philosophy from USC. He expects to research dissertations in New York this summer and holds memberships in Alpha Kappa Delta Phi Delta Kappa and Pi Kappa Delta.
