More than 300 students, about 320 seniors, graduate this afternoon at 5 at Roosevelt Field South Pasadena High School. The ceremony features Carver award suspense, student speakers Frank Lammedee Mary Post and Dorothy Argue, and the school band and choir performing.
Cambridge residents ear worried by screeching brakes at a new stop sign on Cambridge and Huntington. City Council rejected a $1500 flasher device, opting to wait for automatic signals on the drive to be installed and used on a night call circuit.

The San Marino Board of Education submitted a tentative budget of 1 110 150 to the County Superintendent of Schools. It will be reviewed and returned for definite action by July 14 with the annual public hearing set for August 3.
Local families on Brentford road adopted the minesweeper USS Ossprey crew for a Christmas gift exchange. Nine couples organized committees to send boxes of snacks toys parasols books and keepsakes from Japan where the ship was repairing. The Ossprey crew of 34 received gifts and plans for future boxes as thanks for the neighborhood support.
William G. Bonelli chairman of the State Board of Equalization attends the annual conference of the National Association of Tax Administrators in Wyoming. As president of the Federation of Tax Administrators and past NATA president, he is listed as a principal speaker.
Eight graduating eighth graders at Huntington School were named DAR and American Legion award winners. The Legion certificates honored courage, honor, scholarship, and honesty for Steve Fellows Jim Mc Donald and Marylyn Martell presented by James W Whitney San Marino Post commander. DAR honors were for outstanding scholarship in American history Virginia Byers Judy Simpson Paula Outland Dale Williamson and Dal Swart presented by Mrs Joseph Visnak DAR regent with books on George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
After two years in Korea and Japan, Chuck Johnson is back with his parents in South Pasadena. He served with the 187th Airborne and saw 42 jumps earning senior jumper, with one shrapnel souvenir from Heartbreak Hill. He once went AWOL in Japan but a court martial was dismissed. He studied Japanese and Spanish and hopes to visit California before choosing his future.
The city and opposing groups press their case three weeks into the zoning law dispute over an on sale liquor license for Gilbert Hemming. A state board hearing may occur next week, with residents invited to return cards to the Protection Committee.

Frank David Barnhill 73 a Los Angeles business figure died at home 1705 Oak Grove Ave after a heart attack. Funeral held at Turner and Stevens Pasadena with interment Mountain View Cemetery. Survived by widow Anna, daughter Brenton LaMetzler, two granddaughters, brother John C. Barnhill and sister Mrs. Ervin C. Wagner.
The San Marino Board of Education voted unanimously against annexing Chapman Woods. Superintendent Neher will inform Chapman Woods leader Arthur Kruger of the decision after a thorough two hour discussion.
The City Hall Pool-O-Meter shows more than $15,000 subscribed toward the $65,000 goal as a city wide drive begins. Early contributors include San Marino Teachers Club San Marino Bethel Order of Job's Daughters San Marino Cub Pack 2 Daughters of the American Revolution and San Marino High School PTA among others. Pool sponsors grow daily with over 100 names contributing $100 or more. Returns from block workers are slow but a fuller report is expected next week.
Plans for the second portion of the high school construction program were filed with the State Department of Architecture on June 5. After approval, the local board will advertise for bids. Planned buildings include economics, shop, music, art, auditorium, gymnasium and academic classrooms.
The council has not approved a two hour parking limit for Mission street business district. A committee reviewing the request reported insufficient data and merchant input to reach a definite decision.
Six South Pasadena High School seniors were named Weldon Fair Play Award recipients for 1929 the honorees are Beth Linsenbard Barbara Nay Diane Dunckel Berke George Alan McQueen and George Tuerk. The awards recognize fair play leadership scholarship and service and include a silver Fair Play Cup a gold pin and a certificate presented Friday by Superintendent Laurence Harper.
City Council postpones public hearing on the planning commission report and comprehensive land use plan to Monday June 30. The June 24 8 p m session was moved to combine with another meeting on the new date at City Hall.
Miss Elizabeth Christine MacMillan aunt of Mrs. Arthur T. Brett 990 Sherwood Road Pasadena died Monday. A native of Prince Edward Island Canada she lived 12 years in Los Angeles and died at 358 South Sycamore Street. Survived by sister Mrs. Mina G. Davidson Los Angeles and other nieces and nephews in the East. Private services with Rev. Gilbert P. Prince at 11 30 this morning at Little Stone Church Turner Stevens and Turner. Interment Mt Welles Cemetery Quincy Mass. Flowers.
