The San Marino Chamber outlines preliminaries for the annual Independence Day parade along Monterey Road with a Lacy Park fireworks show. A Gulf War service tribute is planned and organizers seek information on local service members. They also request convertible cars for the parade and provide contact numbers Peggy Class.
Grad Night Tours for this year are open to the public before the event with schedules June 12 from noon to 9 pm June 13 from 10 am to 9 pm and June 14 from 10 am to 1 pm Volunteers are needed to staff security during the all night celebration shifts run two and a half hours and include meals Call Susan Holman at 441-1815 for details.
The San Marino Chamber of Commerce mixer runs 5 to 7 p.m. at 1800 Huntington Drive hosted by the San Marino Woman's Club. Entertainment by LeRoy Krubl. Admission is 5 dollars per person for refreshments and hors d oeuvres.
Pasadena City College invites past athletes to Homecoming 1991. Hall of Fame inductees Ray Bartlett Jackie Robinson Rod Sherman and Darrell Evans will be recognized. PCC Lancers meet Rancho Santiago College on October 19 1991 with a pregame barbecue and recognition event. For participation call Mary Blowers at 585 7572.
The San Marino Tennis Foundation launches its 13th annual Summer Junior Program at Lacy Park starting June 24 for 125 children. Open to ages 6 to 15, with sessions including Daily Workshop 1 to 3 p.m. weekdays, Tournament Juniors Workout for USTA members at $75 weekly, and four two week Junior Clinic sessions through August 15. Enrollment favors members, but nonmembers and nonresidents may join.
The Marianne Frostig Center Auxiliary hosts a Sunday afternoon benefit at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank. Guests attend a premiere re release of Walt Disney's 1961 film and enjoy a buffet luncheon, games, rides, and a meet with characters. Proceeds fund the Frostig Center scholarship. tickets are 50 dollars for adults 25 for ages 2 15, free under 2.
Jean Gunnell of West Haven Road heads the Sierra Madre Council Community Appeal Campaign across 23 communities in the Pasadena and San Gabriel Crescenta Valley region. The council serves over 10,000 Girl Scouts and 5,000 adult volunteers. Donations fund programs, events, educational trips, outreach, camperships for underprivileged girls, and volunteer training.
San Marino residents Ed ward Pittroff and Michael Giordano were elected to the 1991 board of the Five Acres organization. Giordano is senior vice president of Kidder, Peabody & Co. He will chair the Ken & Barkley Egbok Run. Pittroff returns to the board after a one year absence and runs Login Printing. Five Acres, founded in 1888, is a treatment center for severely abused children aged 2 to 18.
Sally Wenzlau of San Marino was elected to Huntington Board of Overseers at the May 22 meeting. The appointment starts July 1. A long-time Huntington volunteer, she served about 30 years as an art gallery docent and as a Botanical Gardens volunteer.

San Marino voters approve Proposition F by 83.1 percent, 3094 yes to 629 no, a four year parcel assessment generating about 520000 annually for the school district. School board president Mary Snaer says community support stops dismantling and starts rebuilding. Campaign chair Don Clark credits volunteers and notes tax exemption option for homeowners 65 and older.
A residents' committee for unincorporated San Pasqual Area north of San Marino seeks about 10 000 more to file a lawsuit aimed at forcing San Marino to enter into tax negotiations with SAFCO over annexation of Area 3. After February 7, San Marino opposed Area 2 and Area 3 petitions, and Area 3 now says the city acted unfairly without tax talks.
A late May blaze at Del Mar Field destroyed the scorers shed behind home plate along with the backstop fence and field equipment used by freshman and pony league games. San Marino Police report two engines fought the fully engulfed wooden structure, estimating about 4000 dollars in damage. Community donations and a San Marino Pony League reward seek tips leading to arrests.
San Marino police shattered a large keg party on Lorain Road after undercover ABC agents confirmed a $3 entry fee and underage drinking. About 300 party attendees were dispersed. Penny and John Davis both 19 were cited, along with a Pasadena resident and an unidentified juvenile after a backyard fight.
