Memorial Day Service Honors War Dead at Lacy Park

San Marino community gathers at Lacy Park War Memorial to honor fallen service members. The event pays tribute to Marine Corporal Carl T. Long III of Roanoke Road killed in a May helicopter crash, with Legion and church leaders leading honors and a post drill team performing. An all community picnic followed. Local Realtors plan to attend California Real Estate Association meetings in San Diego June 2022.

Local Red Cross Elects Officers at San Marino Branch

The San Marino Branch of the American National Red Cross held its annual meeting at the home of Mrs. Florence Gates Baldwin on Tuesday June 4 with Mrs. Milton Farber reelected chairman. Burglary at Los Robles home nets TVs and quilt

Police report a burglary at Mrs. Inez Jellineck’s Los Robles residence last Saturday night. About $800 in televisions were stolen along with a green quilted bedspread. A portable TV was missing from the den, and a kitchen door screen was cut to gain entry. The bedroom drawers were searched but nothing else noted missing.

Joint Meeting Awards Recipients at San Marino Post

Members of American Legion San Marino Post 239 and the Exchange Club held a joint meeting on June 5 at Ricky's Restaurant to honor scholastic award winners from San Marino High School and Huntington School. Margaret Grady won the girls prize, Kenneth Blair the boys prize, and Michele Moran received a $500 college tuition scholarship. New officers for Post 239 were installed, including commander B. K. Bettleheim and vice commander Edwing Snedy.

One Ton Of Beef Headlines Menu For Annual Barbecue

New PTA Council Holds Meeting

The first meeting of the new 1968 196 San Marino PTA Council was held on Wednesday June 5 at 9 30 am at the home of Mrs Harry F Booth. Incoming president Mrs Virgil B Becker led the session as officers were elected for the year including Forest Foster and Frederick Dahl. Prime beef is on the menu with a traditional earth pit cooking method detailed and parking arranged for Carver with staff supervision and entrances from Huntington Drive.

San Marino to Enter Rose Parade With Huntington Library Float

San Marino will send a float in the 1969 Tournament of Roses titled A Visit to the Huntington Library. The theme highlights the library facade, gardens, and key aspects of the institution as it marks its 50th anniversary. The project received more than $3000 in donations and support from local groups and citizens.
