Crowd Honors Fallen Soldiers At Lacy Park Ceremony
More than 250 veterans residents and local students attended a large Memorial Day ceremony in Lacy Park. U S Representative David Dreier and San Marino residents Ed Blecksmith and Jack Brown spoke honoring those who died in service. Blecksmith announced Blecksmith Hall will be dedicated at the Pasadena Reserve Center on Veterans Day. Brown referenced his CIC counterintelligence service and his grandson’s Cub Scout parade, and read the poem It is the Soldier. MEMORIAL, page A-10

Fundraising Campaign Begins for New Lacy Park War Memorial
A citizens drive in San Marino aims to raise about 110000 to replace the Lacy Park war memorial with a granite and concrete statue of a bowing soldier. Funds sought by Veterans Day 2006 with completion around Memorial Day 2007. Over 30000 pledged so far including 10000 from San Marino Historical Society and 5000 from Francis Barker. The City Club and City pledge substantial in kind donations totaling over 20000. Donor plaques and paving bricks will honor participants and relatives.
