The San Marino Recreation Department invites the community to a Thursday July 31 screening of Stewart Little II at Lacy Park with preshow activities and an 8 30 p m start. The department also sponsors a August 28 trip to the California Science Center to see Titanic The Artifact Exhibit featuring artifacts from the wreck including a 15 ton hull section and interior recreations.

San Marino Dragon Boat Teams Earn Two Seconds at Long Beach
In the seventh annual Long Beach World Cup Dragon Boat tournament, three teams from the Chinese Club of San Marino competed among 98 teams. Led by Mayor Dr Matthew Lin, the San Marino Police and Fire Departments boat earned two second place trophies after two months of Sunday practice by junior high and high school students, with strong support from club officers Dr Duke Huang Mike Soo and Lulu Chan and parent volunteers.

Four Toss Hats Into Ring for Run at School Board

Local Women Tap Power Lifting Gold At Pasadena Senior Olympics
Susie Brown, 53, won gold in the women’s SO 54 age group lifting 110 lbs, while Louise Jones, 59, claimed top prize in 55 to 59 and 130 lbs. Jones holds AAU world records and has won three straight Pasadena Senior Olympics golds. Brown, inspired by her trainer and daughter, plans to compete again next year.

San Marino Council Eyes Advisory Panel for Library Campus
San Marino officials, facing a lack of quorum, held an 11 item adjourned session to discuss forming an executive advisory committee to oversee the library project and community campus study.
