Huntington Hotel Rise Ties Old Mill to Luxe PDV

Henry Huntington bought the Old Mill and its gardens in 1903 and later acquired the Wentworth Hotel, renaming it The Huntington Hotel. He enlisted Myron Hunt to redesign both properties, turning the Old Mill into a club house and adding a mission tile roof. The new hotel featured a golf course and was opened amid lavish celebration attracting guests from New York, Chicago, and Southern California society leaders.

Public Library Detectives Meet the Real Thing

Votes for Women exhibit ties SMUSD to Huntington Library online

Teachers and students from San Marino Unified School District teamed with Huntington Library staff to create the library's first online exhibit. Debuted October 1995 and ran through January 1996, the Votes for Women collection showcased documents and artifacts from the women's rights movement. Helen Bing funded the exhibit and a traveling 1997 California tour.

Arboretum Blood Drive Aids Leukemia Patient Mark Minniear

Mark Minniear a 16 year old South Pasadena High School student relapsed with acute lymphatic leukemia and needs a bone marrow donor. A blood drive is set for Sunday August 3 at the LA County Arboretum Arcadia volunteer nurses and donors are sought with contact to City of Hope for testing and registry placement.
