San Marino wins Section 2 title with mercy rule over CV
San Marino blanked Crescenta Valley 11-0 in four innings at Michael Nesbit Field to clinch the Section 2 championship. Larissa Phillips pitched a shutout as San Marino built a 2-0 lead by the second, then exploded in the third with walks and key hits, scoring five runs and adding four more in the fourth. Caroline Simmons and Claire Davis stood out defensively and at the plate, while CV was unable to move runners. The victory marks San Marino’s second straight Section 2 crown.

The San Marino Fire Department used a engine monitor to spray water on children at Lacy Park to beat the heat. About 500 gallons per minute cooled kids from the San Marino South Pasadena YMCA and San Marino Recreation Department for roughly two minutes. Firefighter Paramedic Nick Maza operated the monitor.
