Four More Eagles for Local Boy Scout Troops

Four local scouts achieved Eagle rank with projects and future plans. Connor, from San Marino High, earned 32 merit badges and led coats drive as his project. Jeffrey, San Marino graduate, renovated Lacy Park fence for his project and will study Biological Engineering at UC San Diego. Riley contributed tool racks for The Door of Hope in Pasadena while earning multiple leadership roles. Hubert earned 34 merit badges and conducted a hygiene kit drive for Los Angeles Mission. he engaged in Science Olympiad and music groups at San Marino High.

AFS Seeks San Marino Host Family for 2008-09

Westfield Promenade Opens Spring 2009 at Santa Anita

Westfield Santa Anita plans a spring 2009 opening for the Promenade with 30 new shops boosting the mall by 300,000 square feet as part of a six hundred thousand square foot expansion. Phase 1A cost about 120 million and Phase 1B is expected to cost a similar amount, with parking to be completed in the winter holidays.

Facing East opens at Stillspeaking Theatre San Marino

Stillspeaking Theatre at San Marino Congregational Church presents Facing East through August 3 with Friday and Saturday 8 pm and Sunday 3 pm shows. Wizard of Oz comes to San Marino with youth cast

More than 40 local youngsters from Huntington, Valentine, Carver, Polytechnic and Gooden schools star in three performances of the Wizard of Oz at the San Marino Center. The San Marino Summer Theatre Camp, now in its second year, features a full orchestra, notable sets and costumes. Dorothy is Lauren Wilmore of Poly, Scarecrow Teddy Willard of Huntington Middle, and Tin Man Sean Buckley from Lee.

SMPD Open House Aug 2 With Tours and Bicycle Registration

Huntington Cal Lutheran co Host Huxley Seminar

California Lutheran University and the Huntington Library co host the 4th International Aldous Huxley Symposium from July 30 to August 3. More than 30 experts from around the world will speak on Aldous Huxley in America with cooperation from the Centre for Aldous Huxley Studies in Germany. Topics include Huxley in the psychedelic movement and his environmental foresight.

Evans Begins Interim Head Term at Westridge School

Evans, longtime Westridge teacher and administrator since 1985, has been named interim head of the school founded in 1913. She previously directed the middle school 1997–2003 and served as assistant director 1996–1997. She chairs curriculum and academic standards and has spoken at NAIS and CAIS events.
