Honest residents help recover purse and honor San Marino police

City Firemen Win Medals at Summer Olympics
Three San Marino Fire Department members won medals at the Firefighters Summer Olympics held at Cal State Irvine. Richard Meyer earned bronze in handball, James Shearer bronze in doubles tennis, and Gary Thayer silver in physical fitness. They trained six weeks and competed against California fire crews.

Varner Wins Society Award At San Marino High
Recent SMHS graduate Eric Varner won the Herbert H McCormick Award a $100 prize from the San Marino Historical Society. Established in 1979 the award honors McCormick's ideals in school community and historical journalism. Varner worked on the school paper four years ending as editor and will attend Princeton in the fall.
