Atlantic Records singer Karen Tobin and Crazy Hearts perform at Lacy Park starting 6 p.m. on Sunday as part of the fifth annual Concerts in the Park series co sponsored by the San Marino Schools Foundation and the City of San Marino. Tickets at gates after 5 p.m. cost 20 dollars family or 7 dollars single. Proceeds fund San Marino schools with snacks sold by San Marino Unified School District staff. San Marino Rotary held its annual demotion party at the Athenaeum Caltech with a roast of outgoing president Bob Eichel and a pin and gavel handover to Paul Crowley who becomes president. District to require principals report weapons before suspension
The Board of Education approved a first reading of a new policy requiring each school principal to notify law enforcement about deadly weapons or assaults before suspending or expelling a student. The San Gabriel Valley Alumni Club announced awarding Walter Jayasinha and Peter Kazanjian, San Marino High School seniors, $1,500 each for merit and academic achievement. Both plan to major in Business Administration at USC. Jayasinha played football and track and was an AFS exchange student to Spain. Kazanjian was active in student government and is from a Trojan family. he spoke at graduation.

California's $1,000 Seal Etched in State History
In 1849 Monterey delegates faced two weeks of grinding work to finalize the California Constitution and send it to Congress for admission. On September 29 Charles T.
