SMPD Introduces FAST Helicopter Patrol to Quicken Response
San Marino Police Department began aerial support from Pasadena on July 1 under the Foothill Air Support Team FAST a multi city joint project. Helicopters cut response times to major crimes to about fifty seconds compared with under three minutes on the ground and aid ground units with GPS FLIR and powerful spotlights to locate suspects, deter crime and direct officers to precise locations.

San Gabriel Valley Backed Cybercafe Opens in Iganga Uganda
DevelopNet, a nonprofit ICT center funded largely by San Gabriel Valley and Pasadena donors, opened in Iganga to aid NGOs and CBOs. Taylor Mark, a San Marino High School graduate, led the project with a $6,000 Uganda Communications Commission grant and volunteer support from Emily Telleen-Lawton and others since July of last year.

Prank Call Sidelines Arcadia Titans Soccer Team
Arcadia High School Athletic Director played a prank on San Marino coach Ossie Monroy claiming Monday’s summer league game was canceled and would be rescheduled. Nine hours later Arcadia’s coach called to explain no Titan appeared before kickoff. Monroy, ex pro, led the Titans to Rio Hondo League’s best finish in six years. He will file a report with authorities.

Seeders and Weeders Garden Club marks seven decades since 1935 origins in Barrick garden. Founders Mmes. John Dean Barrick Deschler Fulmer and Baird Marble started with workshops in Mrs Fulmer’s basement teaching drafting and landscape planning. over seventy years the club has won awards at St Edmunds Episcopal Church fashion team Mary Wills Flower Show Descanso Garden Brookside Park Flower Shows and Fannie Morrison Horticultural Center now Kidspace Children’s Museum.

City Council OKs 18.6 Million Budget For Streets

Island Voyage to Play at San Marino Foundation Concert
