Police Investigate Burglaries In San Marino Area
San Marino police last week probed a series of burglaries including a Patton Way home entry where a rear door lock was broken and a safe was emptied, a Huntington Drive shop theft of a $20 water cooler during construction, and a Fleur Road auto burglary with a $550 stereo stolen from a VW convertible. A 12 year old Mont Robles Place boy admitted breaking a Valentine School classroom window after a witness intervened, with his mother agreeing to cover damages. An 11 year old girl was reported ill and missing after telling parents she would stay with friends in Newport. Page 9.

Family Seeks Return Of Its Best Friend Shadow the Lost Poo
A Winston Avenue family offers a rising reward for Shadow, their coal black miniature Poodle, missing since June 9 after bolting from the front door. New Age School Emerges For Gifted Learners In San Marino
The four year old New Age School at Carver School, tied to Cal State Los Angeles, uses brain development research to guide an integrative education program for gifted children aged 3 to 16. Huntington School Student Chosen As Singing European Ambassador
Eleven year old Christopher Gilmore, a seventh grader at Huntington School, was named a guest artist and in residence with the Paris Boys Choir and other European boy choirs. He was selected from 12 students in the United States and Canada by the Americas Boychoir Federation for an ambassadorial tour of Europe, with rehearsals in Newark before traveling to Brussels and other cities.

Boys Choir Tour Across Europe and France Return in July
The group travels through Paris singing at the American Church of Paris Notre Dame Cathedral and other churches and synagogues. They join Belgian boy singers on Euro television and visit Cologne Cathedral and Ehrenfelder Kinderchor. Trial date set for Sussex man in Calif. murder case
Trial date for 2-year-old Sussex England man accused of murdering Gioria Black of East Pasadena has been set for Nov. 16. Mrs Black, a Huntington Grove Estates resident near San Marino active in local civic activities, was found stabbed and beaten to death in her condominium on Aug. 23. Suspect David Nicholas Carter was linked to the murder by items found in his home and in Mrs Black's condominium.
