San Marino residents led by 101 signers filed a Notice of Intention to Circulate Recall Petition with City Clerk Veronica Ruiz on June 26 seeking to unseat Mayor Dennis Kneier. Kneier, who announced his resignation as mayor last month after a dog waste incident, defended his record and apologized for the incident while noting he remains on the council through November 2015.

San Marino Firefighters Raise Funds for Fallen Comrade’s Daughter
Rush hour traffic halted as San Marino Fire Department urged donations to fund a college fund for the six year old daughter of Arcadia firefighter Mike Herdman who died in a Los Padres National Forest camping accident. More than $17,000 was raised by San Marino and South Lee SMFD, with over $5,000 collected at Huntington Drive and San Marino Avenue.
