Blecksmith 5K Run Raises 13000 for Foundation

The San Marino Tribune reports the J.P. Blecksmith 5K Run & Walk drew 465 finishers and raised 13000 for the J.P. Blecksmith Leadership Foundation. Blecksmith, San Marino native and USMC 2nd Lt, died in 2004 near Fallujah, Iraq. The memorial fundraiser supports character awards and a Flintridge Prep scholarship. This is the fourth annual SK memorial event. The race started at 8:00 am July 4 at San Marino Avenue and Huntington.

Nine-Year-Old Victim Left at San Marino Library

A nine year old and her seven year old sister were left at Crowell Public Library in San Marino on Friday without adult supervision. A male in his late forties approached the older girl with inappropriate gestures from the children's area while she used a computer. Police, told there were no eyewitnesses, and the suspect fled before officers arrived. The search found no evidence or suspects and the mother arrived after the incident.

Library issued 448 Cards to Non Residents In May

San Marino's Crowell Public Library issued 448 cards in May to non residents while 25,648 cards circulate. Assistant City Manager Cindy Collins notes 14,513 cards belong to non residents and daily facility use ranges from 1,200 to 1,500 patrons. 60 percent of materials are checked out by San Marino residents.

City Seeks Applicant for San Marino Recreation Commission
