Mary Griffith the 18 year old daughter of Mr and Mrs G Stewart Griffith of 1670 Ramiro Road was chosen to study in the Max Reinhardt Workshop of the Theatre in Hollywood this summer. She is a senior at South Pasadena High School and was selected from fifty young people after several auditions. The workshop, patterned after Reinhardt’s Salzburg program, includes drama, ballet, music, stage lighting and costume design.

Giant Aqueduct Nears Completion in Southern California
The Metropolitan Aqueduct project is over 85 percent finished delivering Colorado River water across California to 13 cities. Only the Mt. San Jacinto tunnel and pumping plant equipment remain, with pumps due to be installed by fall. The project started December 1932 and has employed over 36 000 residents, with daily capacity of one billion gallons. It aims for completion in 1939 at a cost well below the $220 million bond issue.

Two Plays To Be Given At Summer School

George Adams Struck by Pacific Electric Train in South Pasadena
George Adams son of Professor and Mrs. Albert J. Adams of 1810 Bushnell South Pasadena was hit by a westbound Pacific Electric train at Huntington and Del Mar avenues at 4 oclock Wednesday afternoon. He drove a Chevrolet sedan and suffered a forehead gash but no hospitalization was required. The train from Arcadia, under Motorman A Jensen and Conductor Lee Bashore, struck the car as Adams attempted a right turn across Huntington drive. The car skidded onto the highway and the train stopped within ninety feet of the impact.
