Francis Story Citrus Pioneer Passes Away
Francis Q. Story, prominent Alhambra citrus pioneer and former president of the Southern California Fruit Growers' Exchange, died Friday at age 86. He helped found the Sun Mistress orange lineage, deeded land for Story Park, led local business groups, and survived by a sister and a nephew. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Church of Our Saviour with interment in San Gabriel Cemetery.

Increased postage in the future for letters and air mail
Beginning this week a three cent stamp must be placed on letters up to one ounce to insure delivery with three cents for each additional ounce. Air mail letters up to one ounce require an eight cent stamp with 13 cents more for each extra ounce or fraction thereof.
Pony Express Messenger Rides Again Invites Legion Posts
Bronco Charlie the last survivor of the Pony Express-era rides again carrying invitations from the American Legion at Salinas to posts for the California Rodeo at Salinas in July 2024. Born in Hat Creek Modoc County and beginning Pony Express in 1861, he recalls the St Joseph Missouri to Sacramento line. He met Mary Lynn a 93 year old eating place operator near Sacramento riders. Charlie started about 4 p.m. at Sacramento and changed horses.

Pasadena Superior Court Expands Jurisdiction
The Pasadena branch gains enlarged jurisdiction effective July 1 1932 covering South Pasadena and northern San Gabriel townships north of Valley Boulevard. Judge Walton J. Burglar Foiled After San Marino Break-in Discovery
Roy McMillan alias John Scott was caught Sunday June 12 after breaking into David H. Lane’s home at 2835 Monterey Road San Marino. Lane pursued him into South Pasadena and Alhambra. police arrested him and he was moved to Los Angeles jail. Loot found in his Los Angeles room tied to crimes north of the city. His past includes terms in Sing Sing San Quentin and Folsom. He faces trial locally or in Santa Cruz.
