Pioneer Dies in San Marino Home Friday
Mrs. Fannie G. Kerns widow of Hon. Thomas J. Kerns died at her San Marino residence 1210 Granada avenue on Friday June 29. Born in the south she arrived in California in 1870 and crossed the continent to San Francisco before joining her family in this region. Her father Rev William Moores was an early California Methodist minister and her husband served in the state legislature. Survived by daughters Mrs. W. C. Vaughan Exa Kerns and Mrs. Ben F. Mansfield.

San Marino School Board Hopes for Prompt Bid to Start Fall Work
The San Marino School Board, with Porter Bruck absent on vacation, met to review delayed state approvals. Officials say plans are with the state architect in Sacramento awaiting approval, after which bids will be advertised to begin major construction for the fall opening. Elmer C. Neher, superintendent, will fix bid timing once plans return.

Fireworks Injury Wounds Johnny Morse in San Marino
The first Fourth of July accident in San Marino injures Johnny Morse, son of Mr and Mrs Arthur A Morse of 1852 Warwick Road. He picked up several lady firecrackers and was struck in the eye. rushed to the Emergency Hospital for care. An eye specialist found a hemorrhage but with proper treatment a permanent injury is hoped to be avoided.
