San Marino Girl Scouts Win Gold Award at Duarte event
Senior Girl Scouts from Mount Wilson Council honored at a June 24 Gold Award ceremony at Duarte Performing Arts Center. Among 52 recipients eight San Marino residents, including Tara Dhawan Nicki Grifka Tracey Katz Heather Kiralla Cammie Phelps Charis Tsoeng Katie Trawick and Melissa Ying, completed four patches 50 hours of service and leadership and career exploration requirements. Tracey led Caring Kids and Canines with therapy dogs visiting convalescent homes while Troop 469 renovated a Walter Hoving Home room in Pasadena.

San Marino approves full-time police officer for high school

Tribune 10K Sizzles Through Town In Heat
The Tribune Annual 10K Run and Walk in San Marino drew more runners amid rising temperatures. Grand Marshal Betty Brown sent participants off at 9 am as Alan Weiss, a San Marino High School graduate, won the race in about 26 minutes. Susan Gilbaugh defended her women’s title, Kurt Brimberry Jr. claimed the youth division, and Nancy Twist edged her husband for the walkers title.
