Viewers Still Responding To 18th Century Prints

Huntington Gallery presents works by Giovanni Battista Piranesi from July 3 to October 8. The exhibit surveys his Rome and Venice roots, archaeology influence, architectural designs, and dramatic etchings including the Carceri series famed for dark fantasy and intense lighting.

Fairfield Place Fire Damages Home Estimated at 65,000

On Saturday June 30 at about 6 45 p m the San Marino Fire Department responded to a house fire at 2625 Fairfield Place. Units found a single story home on fire caused by a pan of hot oil exploding in the kitchen. Firefighters, aided by Los Angeles County fire trucks and a San Gabriel engine company, extinguished the blaze by entering the home and pulling down the roof with pike poles. Damage to the home was estimated at 60,000 for the roof and 5,000 for the interior.
