Graduates Report Today for Navy V-12 Program
San Marino high school graduates of 1943 begin Navy V-12 training today at colleges under Navy contract. Enrollees will study dentistry medicine aeronautical engineering and related fields while receiving pay and living support. Naval Captain Of San Marino Dies At 48
William Frank Grimes 48 a resident of 2465 Cumberland Road died last Saturday at the U S Naval Hospital Norco. He served since 1917 beginning at USC and Mt Vernon school and the Academy of the Holy Names later joining Naval Radio School Harvard University and serving on the Rhode Island and Pennsylvania He also led the Naval Communications Reserve and worked for Westinghouse before being recalled January 6 1941 to active duty.

School boards launch one semester year plan in San Marino and South Pasadena
San Marino City School Board and South Pasadena elementary and high school boards opened an eight year plan to end mid year entries. Starting September four and a half year olds can enter kindergarten and five and a half year olds enter first grade. No mid year promotions or entries will occur. The San Marino Tribune will be closed July 5 for Independence Day.

Home Guard Muster Slated July 6 In San Marino
The San Marino unit of the California State Guard will muster Tuesday evening at the Huntington gym under the new State Guard act effective July 1. Maj John Staats will lead the Pasadena battalion and prepare requisitions for uniforms and equipment from the Federal government. The Huntington playground will close Monday July 5 with activities resuming Tuesday July 6.

Under James L. Beebe the Citizen's Committee of the Los Angeles County Build a Cruiser Campaign raises funds for a cruiser Los Angeles print. Arthur Beaumont provided the artwork, and buyers of extra bonds receive the print as a keepsake. The War Savings Committee led by John A. Barton notes the drawing will be sent to President Roosevelt and Navy Secretary Knox. Knox announced the county drive yesterday.
