St Edmunds Breaks Ground For New Hall
The St Edmunds Episcopal Church parish dinner in San Gabriel marked the start of groundbreaking for a $135 000 facility the Marjorie Fellows Hall. The project includes a large parish hall three minor rooms a crib room and a 24 by 18 kitchen to serve youth groups church meetings and Boy Scout units. Rev William Aaron Driver officiated with retiring wardens Harold Henner Reed Husband newly elected senior warden and Alfred Hastings junior warden. Co chairmen are Driver and Husband. Architect is Bree Freeman of Pasadena. The drive was led by Hastings and Thomas J Taylor.

Early Morning Collision Injures Driver in Pasadena Area
At a midnight collision at Wilson avenue and Los Robles avenue, driver William P. Simpson 44 of Los Angeles sustained six broken ribs a cut wrist and a back puncture. Clyde Hager 19 of La Mirada failed to negotiate the curve and struck Simpson’s 1962 Corvette. Hager’s 1965 Pontiac suffered left front fender damage and Simpson was hospitalized. Police propose a speeding citation for Hager.

Gas hose rupture sprays attendant at San Gabriel station
A kinked gas hose at the northwest corner of San Gabriel boulevard and Huntington drive ruptured last Wednesday evening January 19. Donald L. Cummings of Duarte pulled the hose to tend the kink, breaking it and spraying gasoline on the ground and into his face. He was hospitalized at Arcadia Methodist Hospital. San Marino Fire Department washed down the area and removed the spill.

Fire destroys San Marino Sporting Goods in weekend blaze
A San Marino Sporting Goods store on Huntington Drive was destroyed by a fire Saturday night with estimated losses near 27000 dollars. Firefighters contained the blaze, saved adjacent shops Kraemer’s Jewelry Store and San Marino Coiffures, while a passing motorist alerted the authorities at about 9 p.m. The cause remained undetermined and heat and fumes from melted plastic posed breathing hazards for crews.
