Invading Bee Triggers Two-Car Wreck on Monterey Road
Barbara Mc Nulty of 2101 Oak Knoll avenue was seriously injured when a bee entering her open window caused her to lose control. Her car collided with a truck driven by Jack Minne braker of Los Angeles in the 500 block on Monterey road. Both drivers were hospitalized at Huntington Memorial Hospital with a broken nose facial cuts and severe bruises.

Pasadena musician Vera Barstow loses purse contents recovered
Local boys Emmett J. Cassidy and Neal Horgan found a purse containing a $1250 diamond-set watch and 40 Northrup Aviation shares worth about $7500 near Los Robles and Old Mill road. A finder returned the watch to police and to the owner Mrs Vera Barstow Myers of 1939 Villa street South Pasadena. The purse was later traced to her car after she left the Dockweiler and Tremaine area in Los Angeles.

Water Company Outlines Major San Marino Construction
Water company plans a $75,000 investment in 1939–1940 for San Marino projects. San Marinans and others crowded the Church of Our Saviour in San Gabriel to honor Mrs. Richard Lacy, wife of San Marino's mayor, laid to rest beside her son Richard William Lacy. Flags flew at half mast as police and fire units kept guard and pallbearers carried the casket to the San Gabriel Cemetery. Four car crashes in San Marino leave one injured
Over the past week San Marino saw four vehicle collisions on Allen Avenue Wilson Avenue and at Mission and Los Robles. Only one injury occurred when Margaret Boyd was hurt, riding with Hugh Boyd. Cars sustained bent fenders and smashed radiators with drivers from Los Angeles Pasadena Hollywood and Alhambra.

Five San Marino men among Farmers and Merchants National Bank of Los Angeles officials received promotions at the annual stockholders meeting. Fred B. Dickey and Fred S. Hilpert were named vice presidents, J. Chalmers Wright became assistant trust officer, while Frank B. Putnam and Russell C. Lemmon were reelected as assistant cashier and assistant trust officer respectively. The late Hugh F. Stewart had retired as vice president but remained on the board until his death last month. Dickey now also serves as treasurer of San Marino. These five officials have a combined 110 years with the bank.

San Marino will open a classified branch post office at 1014 Huntington Drive about February 1, says Acting Postmaster Fred G. Sutherland of the Pasadena office. The 50 by 25 foot building, owned by Walter R. Fitzgerald and designed by Benjamin S. Parker, rents for 900 dollars yearly and will offer full services including foreign mail, bonds, savings, mail boxes, and a San Marino postmark with ten carriers on staff.
