Plane Lands In Vacant Field Near Lombardy Road
A civilian air patrol plane landed briefly in a vacant lot at the southwest corner of Lombardy road and San Gabriel boulevard about 5 30 Saturday evening. Pilot Stanley Heaver said he was en route from March Field to Glendale Grand Central Airport, encountered a sand storm near Riverside, and, with poor visibility over San Marino, made the forced landing. The craft suffered no damage and the pilot resumed his flight after consulting the provost marshal's office.
