Court of Honor Honors Local Scouts Monday
Edward E Wilcke presented Eagle Scout and Eagle Palm awards at the San Marino Area Boy Scout Court of Honor held at Huntington School. Bronze Palm went to Edward, Gold Palm to Richards Barger Jr., both from Troop 355. Star Scout and Life Scout recognitions were announced for multiple scouts from Troops 351 334 354 358.

Pioneer San Marinan Ignacio Callahan Dies
Ignacio Callahan, longtime San Gabriel area resident, died after a lengthy illness on Saturday January 6. He was buried in funeral services at the Old Mission in San Gabriel Tuesday morning after a Rosary recited Monday evening. He attended San Gabriel schools and St Vincent's Academy in Los Angeles before working on the Patton ranch with his father.

Power Fails After Edison Pole Crash on Los Robles
Early Friday power cut hit residents near Los Robles and La Mirada avenues when an Edison pole was struck by a motorist at 12:28 a.m. Ted Naudis, 31, of Monterey Park, suffered facial lacerations and was removed to a hospital. The car was demolished. A second rollover occurred Saturday at 12:22 a.m. on Mill Lane near Virginia Road when a car driven by William John Bettingen III of Pasadena swerved to avoid a left‑passing vehicle, hit the west curb, rolled over, and slid 100 feet.

A power failure hit the southern part of the city for about 100 minutes after a tree trimming accident on Lorain road brought down power lines and shorted a transformer. Southern California Edison crews restored service by 11 15 a m with losses estimated at 65 dollars. A separate theft in the 1300 block of Virginia road saw a stereo and 16 tapes stolen from a car valued at 150 dollars. Police urge caution to prevent further incidents.

Board Renews Dingus Contract For Four Years
Walter Dingus' contract with the Unified School District was renewed for four more years by the Board of Education on Tuesday night. His current agreement runs to June 30, 1968 and may be extended under the education code. Dingus came to San Marino as high school principal in 1952 and became superintendent in 1956.
