The City of San Marino float honoring Australia won the grand sweepstakes prize at the 1932 Tournament of Roses Parade. The lyre bird design used white sweet peas and Chinese lilies with a floral fountain at center. Six women outwalkers wore satin costumes as three Australian girls rode the float.
The San Marino float led the parade with delicate pastels earning first place amid stiff competition from Monrovia Alhambra and Arcadia entries. Praise goes to Donald E. McDoneld C Hall Reynolds and William Dunkerley for organizing and funding the effort. The Mounted Patrol also thrilled crowds in its New Year parade showing, under Capt Heimer W Christensen.
