San Marino police officers chased a suspect at near 100 mph, pushing vehicle speeds toward the limit as they pursued through city streets and beyond, aiming to curb a criminal incident and apprehend the offender.
Pasadena police pursued two white male suspects in a 1963 Chevrolet after a light-run, high-speed chase through Pasadena and Altadena. A parked car was struck, and partial fingerprints were recovered. Officer Padgett fired a single shot. no arrest was made. The incident capped with patrols continuing as San Marino prepares for basketball at Gladstone and Ontario.
Police detained five Duarte youths at Lacy Park after spotting three boys and two girls with open beer. A search found a pouch with a green leafy substance suspected as marijuana on Gene Walter Gallegos, 19, who was booked in Pasadena jail. The four juveniles were released to their parents.

A thief broke into the San Marino High band room during Christmas vacation and stole a drum set worth 270 dollars. Glenn Stuart reported the burglary to police at about 9 30 a m Monday. Entry came through a skylight as the thief lowered himself with a 25 foot cotton cord with a metal center.
