City Defense Council Drill Report Shows Growth and Upgrades

City Quiet During 1942 Holidays Amid War Restrictions
San Marinans enjoyed the quietest holiday season in years due to wartime restrictions and soberer living. No morning parade traffic or Santa Anita jams, only rare horns and New Year wishes as 1942 merged into 1943. High winds on Christmas caused scattered damage including a fallen Edison pole on Del Mar and blown wires on Virginia Road.

Library records show unusually large attendance at Huntington exhibit

Lieutenant C. Pardee Erdman of the U S Navy Reserve wears silver Army aviation wings paired with a chaplain cross on a Navy uniform. The pilot, once a religion professor at Occidental College, served with the 48th Aero Squadron on Long Island in 1918. He received his Navy commission in October 1942.

PTA District Meeting Dates Set for April and Fresno Convention
