Wreck Injures Local Girl at Berkeley Campus
Katharine Bakewell daughter of Mr and Mrs Harding F Bakewell of 733 Winston Avenue suffered a broken leg in an automobile and street car collision near the Berkeley campus six students were returning from a New Year party two coeds were killed four injured Bakewell’s father headed to Berkeley by plane after the accident. she remains in the university hospital as her condition improves.

Pfc Knox Mellon Returns Home After War Service
Pfc William Knox Mellon son of Mr and Mrs W K Mellon 554 South Bonita avenue completes a long tour of duty in the U S Army. He received a Bronze Star from Maj Gen Gill for meritorious achievement in operations against the enemy and heads home under the Army Redeployment Plan. He entered service in December 1942 and served at Fort Brady edited the Fort Brady Sentinel. Overseas since May 1944 he fought with the infantry in the Drinimoor River area and later worked in the 32d Red Arrow Division Public Relations Office as a combat correspondent. He earned the American Theater Ribbon Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon with three battle stars Philippine Liberation Medal with two battle stars Good Conduct Medal and Bronze Star Medal.

Navy Releases Dan Lindsley Arrives Home For Holidays
Dan EL. Lindsley Jr an apprentice seaman in the Navy V-12 program was released from service in Memphis Tennessee. He arrives at 1750 Rambro road to spend holidays with his parents Mr and Mrs D L Lindsley. Lindsley has completed 39 months in V-12 and just finished his first medical school quarter at the University of Arkansas Fayetteville after attending the University of Texas. He is a South Pasadena San Marino High School alumnus.
