Gov Wilson appoints Robin Chiu to Hong Kong post
Robin Chiu, longtime San Marino resident since 1984, is named Director of the Governor’s Office of Trade and Investments in Hong Kong with jurisdiction over China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Southeast Asia. Born in Shanghai, he grew up in Hong Kong, studied at Hong Kong University, and has worked in IBM World Trade, Public Works, and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. He and his wife moved to San Marino, have two children, and will take office in February in Hong Kong.

San Marino High Delivers National Bicentennial Honor
San Marino High School earned National Bicentennial Campus status from the National Bicentennial Commission for a broad study of the First Amendment. Teachers Peter Paccone and Taylor Morton led projects including a mock trial, student newspaper, museum display, TV special report, and district surveys, with students also appearing on KBLA Radio to discuss the Bill of Rights.

San Marino Residents Report UFO Sighting on Huntington Drive
MUFON investigator Georgeanne Cifarelli relays San Marino witnesses saw a large fat white triangular object with two rows of rotating yellow and red lights on November 22 1991 at about 7 30 p m over Huntington Drive eastbound at low level. The incident, reported to police, echoes similar sightings in New York and Belgium since 1989.

Christmas Fires Leave $200000 Damage In San Marino
On Christmas day the San Marino Fire Department battled two fires causing over 200000 in damage to area homes. The first attic blaze in the 6200 block of Longmont required three hours on scene with no injuries. The second fire at 587 Huntington Dr. involved an elderly resident and caused about 100000 in damage to the home and 25000 to contents, with 25 minutes to control.
