The 11th annual Tyler's Team banquet on March 4 at Cafe Santorini features a vineyard luncheon for six and a Napa wine tasting as live auction items from Joseph Phelps Vineyard to support leukemia research led by Dr. Barry Maurer. Time Is Now Magazine Drive at Huntington Middle School
Huntington Middle School launches its second largest fundraiser themed The Time is Now running February 16 to March 8 with HMS Foxes selling subscriptions to earn personal awards and raise funds for improvements. Parents Ruth Roberts and Robin Lahey lead the drive noting strong online sales and a record Early Bird month in November 2010. Funds go to the PTA via an allocations committee for discretionary use.

District Rejects Bids for Stoneman Property in San Marino
San Marino School Board rejected two bids for Stoneman School eight days after opening bids. Bids from Almansor Center and Chinese Club were deemed non conforming. The district will re post the property for a third round with bids due March 7 at 2 00 p m The city had negotiations for a 99 year lease before the project went to open market.

Thornton Hamlin, WWII veteran and Roses president, dies
San Marino resident Thornton H. Hamlin, 86, longtime San Marino Community Church member, Huntington Library development officer, and 1983 Pasadena Tournament of Roses president, passed away Tuesday weeks before his 87th birthday. He served on a submarine in World War II and is honored on Lacy Park plaque. remembered at local Memorial Day ceremonies.
