San Marino Schools Foundation outlines its ONE Campaign roadmap to address a projected 5.6 million deficit for 2011-12. The plan centers on a $2 000 per student annual donation with a 3 4 million target for 2011-12, half funded to date by community efforts and prior campaigns.
The USC University Hospital Guild invites the community to a Women’s Health Focus on Tuesday February 15 at Wilshire Country Club Los Angeles. Dr Regina Baker will discuss How to Look as Young as You Feel and Kristy Morrell will cover Identifying and Treating Eating Disorders A Q A session follows. Tyler's Team announced its 11th annual banquet for Friday March 4 at Cafe Santorini in Old Town Pasadena. Proceeds honor Tyler George to fund leukemia research by Dr. Barry Maurer at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, with Maurer as keynote and auctions to support the cause. The San Marino Unified School District received two long term lease bids for Stoneman School. The Almansor Center bid $7 050 380 with detailed yearly payments and CUP requirement. The Chinese Club of San Marino bid $6 000 390 with staged payments and a plan to use Valentine Carver and Huntington for a Chinese School during relocation. The board seeks more information and will meet Feb 15 to decide. Mayor Kneier said the city will seek alternative locations for recreation programs.
The San Marino PTA will hold Founders Day on February 22 at San Marino High School in the Neher Auditorium. The 7:00 p.m. ceremony themed Back to the Future honors special volunteers whose service supports future community and school excellence.
San Marino City Council will consider at the March 9 meeting an amendment to limit park items and regulate large groups at Lacy Park. Assistant City Manager Cindy Collins outlined a three point plan to restrict recreational items, require permits for the Tuesday Thursday soccer group, and empower officials to grant permits for large events or sole access. Collins noted requests for bouncy gyms and petting zoos for children's parties and said the soccer group dominates the park. a registration process for frequent users was proposed. She also referenced questions about a men’s softball league that uses the park.
