He is on two week home leave and will return January 1. The Rices formerly lived in San Marino at 1915 Robin Road. Rice graduated from South Pasadena San Marino High School and spent a year at Occidental College.

Dr Walter Hoggan Stringham of San Gabriel died December 22 after 29 years in California and nine in the area. Native of Bountiful Utah, he was a Latter Day Saints member. Survived by wife Janet and three daughters Elizabeth, Sue Ann Hatch, and Jane O Bryan, plus four sisters and three brothers. Services were held at the South Pasadena LDS church and burial followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Turner Stevens and Turner of Alhambra directed.
