Henry W. Field has been elevated to First Vice President in investments at Dean Witter Reynolds Inc. after 19 years with the firm, 15 of them in Pasadena where he is assistant manager. He serves as Pasadena Band Club president and runs in 5 and 10K events with wife Linda and children Lisa and Jeff on Lorain Road.
Dr Alan J Korostoff M D elected president of Alhambra Community Hospital Board of Trustees for 1987. He is a general partner in Arcadia Radiology Medical Group and has served on the hospital staff for about a decade. He trained at Cornell and USC and is board certified in Pediatrics and Radiology. He and his wife Dorothy live with children Leslie Suzanne and Alexis on Orlando Place.
James R. Ukropina, president of Pacific Lighting Corporation and San Marino resident, was elected director of Security Pacific Corporation and Security Pacific National Bank. Aged 49, he has led Pacific Lighting since 1984 and serves as a director there. He previously held top positions at O'Melveny & Myers and is a director of KCET Channel 28 and the Stanford Athletic Board. He and his wife Lois live with their three sons on Rosalind Road.
The Huntington in San Marino will open to the public Monday December 29 from 1 to 4 30 p m for holiday visitors though normally closed Mondays The library will be closed New Year s Day and will otherwise follow its regular holiday schedule Public hours are 1 to 4 30 p m Tuesday through Sunday Advance reservations are required on Sundays by writing to The Huntington or calling 405 2141 between 12 30 and 4 30 The Huntington Gallery features British landscape watercolors and Edward Weston photographs with the Zamorano Eighty Collectors Books about California on display Blooming plants include camellias poinsettias Kaffirboom coral trees floss silk trees and seasonal annuals.
A rose pruning demonstration will be held at the Huntington Library Ant Collections and Botanical Gardens on Saturday January 3 and Tuesday January 6 and Tuesday January 13. Clair Marin Wall will show pruning techniques in the Rose Garden at 1 30 and 2 30 p m. Martin, head gardener, notes roses in Southern California should be pruned between January 15 and February 15. The Huntington houses about 1200 rose varieties from major garden groups.
The 14th annual Camellia Show runs January 17 and 18 at the Huntington Library and Gardens in San Marino. More than 100 camellia varieties will be present, with Rudy Moore offering grower guidance. Free Sunday tickets available by mail. Huntington hours are 1 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
The San Marino Tribune office closes at 1 p.m. Wednesday December 31 and reopens at 9 a.m. January 2. Deadlines for the January 8 issue remain unchanged.
Huntington Junior High students collected and delivered food clothing and toys for 12 needy families through Friends in Deed. By December 17 the entire student body participated with homerooms adopting families, purchasing gifts and a Christmas meal, while parents mapped deliveries and the PTA endorsed the charity.
The San Marino Schools Foundation races toward its 1986 goal of 325000 with tax benefits highlighted. It has sent donation letters to all San Marino Unified School District residents and raised over 300000 last year to fund teachers salaries maintenance books and more. Mei Lin Kong won a design contest for a SMUSDIP badge joined by Michael Walters to print shirts sold to raise funds.
