Vandals Strike San Marino Trees Across Neighborhoods
Early weekend vandalism in San Marino damaged about a dozen trees including a 35 foot liquid amber at the high school. Shenandoah road saw six trees felled or rooted, two newly planted magnolias broken, and a five foot outdoor Christmas tree cut at the base. A ten foot California live oak on Kewen place was sawed down, with further damage on Chester avenue, Rosalind road and Huntington drive.

Winners Named In Christmas Home Decorating Contest
The San Marino Chamber of Commerce honored top displays with prizes. Bernadette Lester Jr at 163 Melville Drive won first for an animated Mother Goose scene with Santa on the roof. Second went to Dr. and Mrs. Clinton Bennett at 2882 Woodlawn Avenue featuring a rocket and stockings. Third prize was F. D. Hogan at 2187 Roanoke Road with a Nativity theme while St Albans road Deodar trees dazzled with lights. Santa briefly disappeared and was returned by officers on multiple occasions.
