A Los Angeles youth Leslie R. Patterson was seen throwing circulars from a car in San Marino. He was escorted to the police station where Santa Claus arrived with Christmas wishes and paid bail, allowing Patterson to leave.

Realty Company Sells Homes to New Arrivals

Victor J. Poll and family flew from Chicago and bought a French colonial at 2140 El Molino avenue via San Marino Realty. John L. Ewing and wife moved into a two story white Spanish at 1260 Sherwood road, purchased through the same firm. The area sees many homes rented for winter tourists drawn by races and mild climate.

School Burglary At Stoneman Door Opened After Sawing Gate

A thief sawed the padlock on the iron gate of Stoneman school Thursday night, gaining entry to the principal’s room and stealing $1.50 in change from Miss Helen Byfield. The break was discovered Friday around 7 am. the thief reached through to open the door, with no other rooms entered. Investigation by Lt. Glenn McClung and Officer Perry Archer.

San Marinans Talk to Pasadena Realty Board About Social Security Act

Carleton B. Tibbetts addressed the Pasadena Real Estate Board at Mishler's Arcade Tea Room. The former San Marino City Club president explained the Social Security Act and Title IX linking to unemployment reserves, noting a trend to boost benefits for employees before they seek higher wages. Dr. Charles H. Cunningham also spoke as a federal representative.

Local Scouts To Leave For Pipes Caravan

A group of 35 San Marino boy scouts will depart San Marino City Hall at 7 30 a m Monday December 28 for the annual Caravan to Pipes in the Pasadena San Gabriel Valley Scout Council. They will camp December 28 to 30 with funds partly paid by William L Valentine. A California Highway Patrol motorcycle escort will accompany them to the Mojave desert.

Crash at Huntington and Stoneman Intersection

A collision at Huntington and Stoneman caused two cars to incur damage. One vehicle owned by W. E. Englehart of 510 Lemon Avenue Azusa flipped over. the other car belonged to Allen Scott of Washington DC. No injuries were reported.

Christmas Eve Carolers Plan Huntington Streets Tour

About fifty children from Huntington School will sing traditional carols tonight in San Marino streets from 7 to 8 o clock. They will be guided by Mrs Beebe and Mrs Ensign with violin accompaniment and return to the gymnasium for light refreshments. Homes may request overflow singing by calling Alhambra 6837 or Wakefield 350.

Realty Board Elects Officers For New Year

The San Marino Realty Board elected officers for 1937 at its final meeting. Mrs. Ora Leeper was named president, A. D. Smith vice president, and Jessie M. Williams secretary. All members attended, and the board noted growth in membership and civic activity. The group supports the California State Realty Board's legislative fund and maintains a Sacramento lobby to watch pending laws affecting property owners. The board plans continued cooperation amid rising population and building growth.

Frank M Brooks Named National Councillor in Chamber

Frank M Brooks a prominent San Marinan active in Pasadena affairs has been named national councillor for the Chamber of Commerce succeeding the late David N Booker. The post goes to the retiring president each year. Brooks served last year and did fine work as an officer linking the Pasadena unit and accredited delegate to the next U S Chamber of Commerce session.

Five New Homes Started in Alhambra Area Permits

Five residents were granted building permits by Geo Cronshey the city inspector, kicking off construction on new homes before Christmas. December totals top 105 878 with eleven new homes started and nine additions. Permits include Cordes at 1922 Montrobles Place for a 5109 five room French colonial. Griffith at 2080 Lorain Road for a 7836 six room colonial. Thornburg at 327 North Plymouth for a seven room one story home. Dunson at 1485 Rubio for a 5500 Monterey colonial. and Beulah H Smith at 2305 Sherwood for a 6528 seven room English home.

Jewelry Stolen by Burglar on La Paz Drive

Police investigate a Friday burglary at Mrs. Zima M. Pope 545 La Paz Drive. A lawn sprinkler key broke a den window to enter. Jewelry valued at 100 dollars and a pocket book with cash were taken. the book was later found outside. Mrs. Pope had hidden 25 dollars in the pocket book, overlooked by the burglar.

Automobile Fire Extinguished at Huntington Corner

Fire department police and a passerby helped Samuel King of 212 North New Hampshire Los Angeles extinguish a car blaze at Huntington and Granada Saturday night. Fire crews arrived to contain the flames and douse the remaining embers.

Parked car hit by hit run driver in San Marino area

Dr O H Hansen of 2142 Huntington drive had his car badly damaged when Mathew B Slocum of 1880 Los Robles struck it Saturday night near the Pacific Electric station. Slocum charged with failing to stop and driving without a license, pleaded guilty. Sentence delayed to December 26 to assess repair costs. A sobriety test showed moderate alcoholic influence.

Choral Club Holds Christmas Party in Huntington School Gym

The San Marino Choral Club hosted a Christmas party Friday night December 18 with 85 members and guests. Mrs. Anson Peterson chaired arrangements with Mrs. A. F. Jackson assisting. Professor Albert J. Adams directed two carol groups as lights from the Christmas tree glowed.

San Marinans to Attend Rose Queen Ball

Pasadena marks the forty eighth Tournament of Roses with Miss Nancy Bumpus, 19, as queen. The event includes 53 floats from cities and organizations, bands and horses, with a 9:30 a.m. parade route and park exhibition into New Year’s Day.

A petty theft report was filed with San Marino police last week after clothing vanished from the rear garden of Grant Raymond's home at 1635 Euclid Avenue. Items include shirts socks lingerie and a handkerchief.

Patty Lou Hall to Represent City on Tournament of Roses Float

Miss Patty Lou Hall of 2705 Monterey road is chosen to represent San Marino on the Metropolitan Water District float at the Tournament of Roses on New Year's Day. She is a 16 year old senior at Pasadena High School and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. D. Hall. The Halls have lived in San Marino 30 years and Mrs. Hall teaches at Huntington School.

Police Court Session Nets Total of 184 Dollars

In Saturday morning court Judge James P. Mackel presided as fines totaling 184 dollars were paid for speeding and traffic offenses. Eleven cases were continued, two offenders received suspended sentences, one license was suspended, and one case was dismissed.
