City Council member Suzanne Crowell announces she will not seek a third term after eight years of service in San Marino. He has 23 years of service, 250 plus publications, and leads cancer research in liposomal chemotherapy and MRI predictive studies.
San Marino Police are investigating several crimes from the last 10 days. On December 13 a man walking to his car on Kensington Road was threatened by two teenage Hispanic suspects one with a revolver and the other with a screwdriver. A watch and wedding ring were stolen. On December 16 a burglary occurred at a Winston Avenue home while residents were away. Items missing and the time window between 8:20 a.m. and 12:40 p.m. are under inquiry.
Residents faced multiple thefts: a residence reported $18,000 in losses after intruder removed paneling to access a 10 by 14 inch doggie door and took valuables including a VCR jewelry box cash and crystal items. A 1986 Toyota pickup was stolen from Del Mar Avenue with gardening gear inside. Colonial Kitchen Restaurant burglary left $7,000 in equipment food and decor missing. two suspects were arrested for receiving stolen property while investigations continue.
San Marino High School students and Cosmopolites club run a nine day food and item drive for St. Teresa's Orphanage in Ensenada Mexico founded 1943. Items include pancake mix soup tuna soap rice tissues and sponges. About 50 boxes were collected this year illustrating social commitment and gratitude for their needs.
The Renzetti family lights up 1321 Virginia Road in San Marino with 300 decorations and a free annual show named Santa's Workshop. For 38 years they open their front yard to the public each evening from 5 to 10, staging multiple nightly performances with homemade costumes, puppets, and a professional setup.
