Mrs. Mary H. Ainsworth aged 74 died December 16 at her home in South San Gabriel. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Little Stone Chapel. Burial followed at San Gabriel cemetery. Survived by daughter Katherine T. Frans of Sharon place San Marino.

Library closes for holidays in San Marino

The San Marino Public Library will close Friday December 24 at noon and stay shut Christmas Day. It will also close at noon Friday December 31 and remain closed January 1, 1955.

Arthur N. Young and his wife returned home after a months long trip to South America. Young conducted a Foreign Operations Administration and State Department mission assessing American private investments. He previously led the American Financial Mission in Saudi Arabia and headed the State Department Economic Office in the 1920s.

San Marino Rejects Heavy Truck Route Plan

San Marino City Manager C. E. Martin says the San Gabriel Valley Truck Route report is not binding on San Marino. The six city committee proposed Huntington Drive as a heavy truck route, but San Marino will not accept heavy truck routing that splits the city. The report awaits a joint council meeting in January 1955, with San Marino seen as unlikely to endorse the plan without exceptions.

Two Named Sergeants Appointed for San Marino Police

Police Chief Robert Seares announced two new sergeants, James Walter Moore and Ralph R Bennewitz, to take effect December 27. Moore, with the San Marino Police since September 1951, served in the Merchant Marine and as a Military Policeman. he will lead the graveyard shift. Bennewitz, a US Air Force veteran from Wisconsin, has been with San Marino since June 1951 and will head the night shift after December 27.

Traffic Blockades Announced For San Marino Race Season

San Marino police will erect blockades at Lorain and San Gabriel to redirect westbound traffic away from residential areas, and at Duarte and Rose to steer drivers south to Del Mar and Rose. Blockades apply after Santa Anita events end. Huntington drive will carry most traffic to and from the racetrack.

Post Office Boosts Staff for Christmas Mail Flow

San Marino post office employs 49 workers this Core season to handle increased Christmas mail. Superintendent Lundgren notes 21 staff aid letter delivery, 10 assist parcel delivery, and 18 work nights sorting and casing mail. Officials pledge on time delivery by Friday 8 a.m. with all parcels including perishables delivered on Christmas and Sunday. He thanks patrons for auxiliary mail boxes aiding carriers.

Mrs Mueller schoen Dies on December 15

Mrs Marion Theresa Muellerschoen of East Alpine Villa Drive died December 15. Funeral services were held in the chapel of Turner and Stevens with entombment at Mountain View Mausoleum. Survived by son George J. Muellerschoen of San Marino and aunt Theresa Irene Friedman.
