Extraordinary Gains Shown In City School
With the closing of the city schools to reopen December 28 the 15th anniversary of the first school in San Marino is recalled. In 1917 enrollment was 35 with three teachers in a small building on the present Huntington School site. By 1926 attendance rose to 186 and an auditorium and cafeteria were built. In 1927 attendance reached 281 and a kindergarten started. The board added facilities including a library gymnasium and domestic science building by 1930 on a 15 acre campus at Huntington.
