Louise Liebhardt reports Marino schools burst with holiday spirit as students exchange gifts and decorate rooms. From Huntington to Wage Street, classrooms display nativity scenes, chalk art, and paper decor, all leading to a schoolwide Christmas Eve program and a promised visitor.
Two Christmas Plays Presented at Huntington School
Children from Huntington school staged two Christmas plays to mark the holiday season. The 3B class performed A Happy St Nicholas Day in Holland with each student speaking, including wooden shoe costumes. Later, Kenneth White’s 8B class presented The Bellman of Mons about a pipe organ needing a pure heart, with the Boys Glee Club singing three numbers.

Beebe Named for Los Angeles Chamber Presidency
James L. Beebe of San Marino was nominated last week for president of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce. Other officers named include Eugene Battles Carleton Tibbetts and Clark E. Beil. Beebe, born 1889 in Udall Kansas, studied at Fairmont College and Harvard, moved to Los Angeles in 1922 to practice law, and became a partner in O Melveny Tuller Myers in 1927.

Christmas Pageant at South Pasadena Senior High
One hundred seventy two students take part in the annual Christmas pageant during assembly at South Pasadena San Marino Senior High School. Three scenes by Hester Lauman emphasize joy peace and brotherly love. A repeat performance will be next Monday at 8 15 pm open to the public free. Fine Program For Boy Scouts Christmas Party
The Huntington school arena hosts the Boy Scouts annual Christmas party next Monday at 7 30 pm. Three troops will present acts including Drizzlepuss Harman and Stooge Little with sleight of hand and levitation and the trained terriers Pandora and Speedax. An Accordion Swingtette from John Marshall Junior High performs, plus Christmas carols led by Eagle Scout H B Robison with pianist Oscar Rasbach. Refreshments follow as the event aims to become an annual holiday tradition organized by Scoutmasters and troop committees.

Eight houses began construction in San Marino this month boosting total building permits to 66 178 dollars. Mr and Mrs Wallace L Chadwick at 2565 Monterey Road received a 9000 dollar permit for an eight room two story Monterey style house at 1133 Lorain Road designed by Marsh Smith and Powell of Los Angeles with contractors C J and Carroll Nordquist of 6257 Pine Crest Drive Los Angeles. Mariners Visit Girl Scouts On Battleship Nevada
The U S S Nevada welcomed a group of Mariners Girl Scouts last Saturday. Chaperoned by Mrs. Jacob Minder the Scouts left San Marino at 10 00 went to the Navy Landing at Long Beach for a luncheon then departed in an open motor launch escorted by Ensign W S Finn. They toured the battleship from stem to stern gaining much interest.
