Frederick A. Schnell of San Marino Avenue was elected senior vice president in charge of Western operations for Prudential Insurance Co. He will oversee 13 state territory with 15 billion in force and 7 320 employees. Schnell joined Prudential in 1952 after twenty years in sales and management and has led state Life Underwriters associations in Illinois and California. He is a 1932 graduate of the University of Illinois.
Monte A. Burke a leading San Gabriel Valley political figure died of a heart attack shortly before noon Tuesday while in conference with business associates at an Alhambra office. He complained of weakness and asked to sit down for relief.
Sing Out Los Angeles, a branch of Up With People, brings a 130 member cast to San Marino High School auditorium Monday December 19 at 8 p.m. Proceeds aid four cast members to attend a Moral Re-Armament conference in Santa Fe New Mexico. A vandal tossed a molotov cocktail through a ground level window at Huntington School Tuesday around 7 p.m. The bottle failed to explode due to a wrong mixture and was extinguished by custodian Martin Zarnstroff, who alerted the San Marino Fire Department.

The Miller family donates 20000 dollars to Harvey Mudd College to endow a scholarship in memory of Robert Patchen Miller of Los Angeles. The fund supports a SWECO Scholar named annually. presentation made by Mrs. Miller and SWECO leaders.

The San Marino High School band concert features the concert band glee club and chorus and starts at 8 p.m. in the school auditorium. A refreshment stand sponsored by the Band Parents Club will operate in the lobby after the performance.
City buildings will undergo a painting project during the upcoming week. Preparations are in progress as crews prime and protect areas before the work begins.
Sidewalks are installed on the south side of Huntington Drive between Waverly Ave and West Drive. The work follows a lot split approved by the City Planning Commission for the Munster estate heirs. An court appointed administrator oversees clearing the way for a new lot creation as requested by Mr. Munster.
