Chest Over Top Cunningham Heads Community Council
Donations received this week put San Marino's Community Chest over the top. Campaign chairman Paul Cunningham reported total receipts of 35 379, 96 above the year’s budget for health and welfare agency operating costs. Mail gifts totaled 29 140 from 2103 contributors, while a house to house canvass added 5 618 from 568 contributors and 13 pledges 620. The year’s budget exceeds last year by 6 000. Commendations were given to Norwine for updating address lists, to Mrs Harold McNaughten and Mrs Willis Stinson for handling collections, and to Mrs Howard Hall chairman of residential solicitation. Mrs Hall and 22 area chairmen supervised house to house calls by over 200 solicitors. About 90 attended the open meeting at City Hall with contributions honored.

New Schedule For Playgrounds Reorders Winter Hours
The city recreation commission announced changes to playground hours due to early dusk and winter traffic. Huntington closes December and January at 4 30 p m daily while Valentine Carver and Stoneman close Jan 1 to March 19 with spring reopening planned. Olive Hoffman Dies in San Gabriel Heart Attack
Olive Hoffman of 1930 Duarte road San Gabriel died Saturday after a sudden heart attack. Funeral services were held at Forest Lawn with Rev. Robert W. McClellan officiating. She was active in the California Babies Hospital Auxiliary and the San Marino Woman's Club, having served as treasurer and as Home Interiors Guild chair.
