The Board of Education set Tuesday March 5 for a tax override election and adopted a 70 cent increase as the question voters will decide. Polling places are Carver Huntington and Stoneman Schools. Indefinite tax period was approved with one member suggesting a defined term.
James De Martino owner of San Marino Realty Company was elected president of the San Marino Realty Board for 1963 and will be installed at a dinner tonight at Woody and Eddy's. B K Stephenson will be vice president and John O Connor secretary.
City engineer Milton R. Emerson says final drawings for flood control storm drains authorized by the 1958 bond issue are complete and sent to the County Flood Control District. Two drains are planned with about 426000 dollars in work, including Rubio Wash near San Marino High and a route from Fuston road to Huntington Library area.

John S. Griffith of Orlando road elected to the California Institute of Technology Board of Trustees. Griffith is president of Far West Financial Corp., Los Angeles, and has 44 years in real estate development. He has served with California Institute Associates since 1955 and was a director since 1957.

The board held over study of the auditor's 1961 1962 report and approved sale of a track and used pickup by administrators. It received notice of completion of a language laboratory and noted likely legal action against the original company. Ninety percent of the contract was ordered paid and plans to address tax increases before PTA groups were approved. Supplementary texts were adopted including What You Should Know About Communism. The merit plan will be studied further as suggested.
F R Wilcox of Waverly Road has been nominated to serve as 1963 LA Chamber of Commerce president. Wilcox is general manager of Sunkist Growers and a vice president of the Chamber World Trade Committee. Annual election is January 10 in Chamber board rooms.
San Marino Rotary Club hosts Magazines for Friends Day at Woody and Eddy’s on San Gabriel Boulevard and Huntington Drive. Members are urged to bring magazines, preferably in cartons, today. Chairman Stan Turner announced the event details.
Local Chamber of Commerce reports one concrete deer statue missing from the Little Christmas Church locale. Police say the statue was placed by Chamber workers on Saturday and missing since last weekend with a thief sought.

San Marino hosts Christmas activities with Santa at the Little Christmas Church on December 20 and 21. City workers will decorate Sierra Madre boulevard and Huntington drive entrances. A home decoration contest by the Chamber offers plaques. Choirs sing on December 19 and 20 with Girl Scout Troop 4 caroling.
