San Marino School Board approved Project DARE for Carver and Valentine Schools grade four students starting February 1986. The joint program by SMUSD and San Marino Police Department aims to reduce substance abuse, teach refusal skills, self esteem, decision making, and law respect with weekly lessons led by Officer Chris Petersen.

Junior League Pipers To Present Christmas Program
The Pasadena Junior League Pipers, 23 members in red robes, will perform a cappella Christmas carols at 1 30 and 2 30 p m in Friends Hall Pavilion Huntington Library. Monica Hubbard directs the chorus, active eight years at the Huntington and aiding hospitalized and disabled groups in the San Gabriel Valley and LA area. The group, organized in 1962, is chaired by Janet Webb, with decades of teaching in the docent program at the Huntington Art Gallery.

Police Statistics Show Arrests Up and Crime Down in November
San Marino Police Chief James Moore reports November arrests rose to 30 adults and two juveniles from October's 20 adults with no juveniles. Part 1 crimes fell to 23 from 26, including three commercial burglaries and six residential burglaries, while total thefts dropped to 11 and two automobile thefts occurred. Citations declined to 775 with 641 traffic violations. speeding tickets rose to 117. Through November, 3,007 moving violations occurred, and 22 traffic accidents left 14 injured.
