A judging committee will inspect sections on specified nights evaluating originality beauty and adherence to a Christmas motif. Decorations fall into five classes shrubs front door or window trees under 20 feet trees over 20 feet and lawn decorations.
Santa Anita area residents support the Navajo Trail Relief Caravan set to depart Hollywood at 10 AM on Saturday December 13 and reach Pasadena by noon. Contributions of clothing food and money are urged at the San Marino fire station and at 61 East Colorado Street Pasadena.

An anticipated rise of 1.75 million dollars in new city building is projected for this year amid continued activity. November permits reach 455 902 dollars led by 13 residences totaling 234 500 dollars and a 115 000 dollar school addition. Through November 1947 total permits reach 4 304 543 dollars versus 2 671 096 in 1946 with 154 homes approved this year and a December estimate of 16, aiming for 170 for the year, a new high.

Clarence Earl Bradburn 60 founder and president of Pacific Iron and Steel died of a heart attack last Friday at his Pasadena home 242 South Grand Avenue. Funeral services were held Monday at Turner and Stevens Chapel with Dr P Martin Baker officiating and Dr Robert L Evans giving a brief eulogy. Interment was in Mountain View Cemetery. Born in Nebo Illinois he came from a pioneer Illinois family.
San Marino City Council agreed to form a fact finding committee to review complaints about the animal ordinance. The panel would include council members, the police chief, the health officer, and a neutral citizen to record incidents and interview results before any final action on Ordinance No 431.
Blanche Ford Williams will assume the presidency of the San Marino Woman's Republican Club on January 1 after her election at a recent meeting hosted by Mrs. George Bryant. The new executive board includes E. L. Christianson as second vice president and Mrs. Robert Allen as treasurer. Harold H. Story spoke on global strategy, and the group plans a holiday party at the Penthouse Players' Theater on December 30 with tickets available from Mrs. Harold A. McNaughton.
December receipts are expected to set a record as Superintendent John Carroll notes gains for November and for the 11 months of 1947 compared with the same period in 1946. November 1947 receipts total 7,572.41 and November 1946 amount 7,348.27. For 11 months, 1947 receipts reach 70,722.41 versus 60,612.70 in 1946.
John Carroll urges early mailing of Christmas cards and packages with deadlines for out of state mail by November 10 and local delivery by December 15. San Marino post office will stay open December 15 to 23 until 8 pm for parcel post and outgoing registry.
